HKUSPACE Toastmasters Club

 

This club aims at promoting English public speaking and leadership training for the student members. It is part of the Toastmasters International, the leading movement devoted to making effective communication a worldwide reality. The first meeting started in 2003 and the club was officially chartered in 2005. Since its inception, nearly 100 students have registered as official members and have been attending meetings regularly.

 

On average, around 12 regular meetings are arranged every year, each of which is mainly scheduled in the first half of each semester. Besides, members are invited to take part in some area contests by giving prepared speeches, table topic speeches, humorous speeches and evaluation. Some of our members also helped give demonstration speeches in The Chinese University of Hong Kong and in the Youth Leadership programme in some secondary schools so as enrich their public speaking experience.
